Could you show a photo of the wrap-a-loc tool?

Q: How long did it take you to set your hair?

A: Not long at all about the same as a soft spike set.

Q: How long did it take to dry?

A: My hair is low density, so it dries fast, I set my hair when I wake up in the morning and in about it's done in about an hour.

Q: How many locks did you use per strand?

A: I use aproxomatly 6-10 locks, depending on how in a hurry I am.

Q: I would love to try that Wrap-a-Loc tool. I keep seeing it around in postings, etc. but I haven't been able to take advantage of the training and I think that's the only way you can get the tool. Isthat true?

A: No it's not. You can buy the Wrap-A-lock tool from any certified Wrap-A-lock consultant, to find the closest consutant near you click here http://www.wrapaloc.com/page8.html.

Q: Also, how do you find using the tool? Is it difficult,
cumbersome?

A: No it's not difficult at all, it's about the same the soft spikes.

Q: How long did it take you to form your bantu knots usng
the tool?

A: It took a little longer to do the bantu knots, I would say about 2 hours.

Q: I wonder if it would work as well with relaxed ends?

A: I'm not sure about that one but I'm sure it should, I have a customer in a few weeks who has relaxed ends and I'll try it out on her and let you know.

My New Do

Ok, after that wonderful swim this weekend I was in dire need of a new do. So I decided to share the process with you lucky ladies. Ok maybe you're not so lucky, but enjoy anyway ;-)

The Nubian Knots that I am sporting are really tiny Wrap-a-Loc tools rolled inside the lock to make a perfect camouflage as I curl my hair underneath.

Below is how it looks with the tool taken out.

Last but not least below is the final style, it will loosen up in the days to come which I like a little better but this is not to bad either.

Right now I'm not too sure how to respond to questions, so please be patient with me, this is only blogging day three for me.

Getting Started as a Sisterlocks® Consultant

After I got Sisterlocks® I was the happiest woman in the world. After doing hair all day the last thing I want to do was have to do my own hair, now the problem that plagued me for so many years was just a memory. Most of my customers were curious to know what exactly I “had done with my hair” It was hard for them to envision it in the beginning but after my locks matured they were very interested in finding out more about it.

At first it was hard get into the Sisterlocks® business but it picked up quite nicely. Things started to change after I spoke to my Consultant Tanya, shout out to Tanya who helped my so much check her web site and see why is so wonderful http://www.organictexturelocs.com/. Tanya told me all about how she got started. I wanted to be the same kind of consultant she was, she is amazing I could only hope to be as good as her one day. She showed me the ins and outs of the business and even came to my very first locking session to help out. She also introduced me to Mae, another great Consultant in Chicago. Before I got started on my fist installation I helped Mae gave me the opportunity to work with a couple of people. Now neither of these women had to go out of there way to help me in any way that's why I'll be forever grateful for all they've done and continue to do.

I did the front half Mae set the whole head up and did the back as well.

Now it was time to do my very first solo installation but the pictures didn't turn out so clear but the pictures of my second installation, Latoya were much clearer. Take a look.............. She was so sweet a great pleasure to work with and a referral from my favorite Consultant Tanya.

A natural hair stylist journey to Sisterlocks

Welcome to my natural hair story.

My Sisterlocks® journey began on April 15th, 2006. I was about to get married and couldn't for the life of me figure out what to do with my hair. This would be of no surprise for most but being a hair stylist for 18 years and a natural hair stylist of nearly 13, it was a conundrum. My mother in law helped to give me clarity into my dilemma, "we have the most trouble dealing with our own hair" I remember her saying. She too was a hair stylist of 30 years, owned numerous shops and had the most beautiful locks I'd ever seen. They looked like traditional locks only smaller. In the past I had taken and taught a number of natural hair workshops so I was familiar with the different variations of locked hair. "They are definitely Sisterlocks®" I thought to myself but I just couldn't figure it out. So I asked my Mother in law and she proudly proclaimed that she had did them herself and the were NOT Sisterlocks®, (but they sure looked like them)

I remember thinking how incredibly beautiful and free her hair was. I remembered having that kind of freedom once, seems like another lifetime ago. I had traditional locks back in '93 and after a few years I decided to cut them and opt for a more versatile style. I began braiding my natural hair and had more versatility than ever before but non of the braids styles were done with my own hair. Hair of some kind was always added for length versatility and longevity. I had the versatility I waned but grew tired of having to always put someone else's hair in my head (Plus all that braiding was taking a tole on my hair line) I couldn't believe it, it was going on 12 years and I had hardly ever worn my own natural hair out. What was the point in going natural in the first place if I only braided my hair every chance I got just to have a "low maintenance" fix. I needed a change, I wanted a low a maintenance style but at the same time wanted to ware my own natural hair as well as have it be versatile and syllable. After I did some research Sisterlocks® seemed to be right up my ally so I thought, until I found out how much it cost. But I decided I was worth it!

So what happened? I got married and got Sisterlocks® and lived happily ever after lol. Although I opted to ware my hair wrapped for the ceremony I still felt beautiful underneath.

Exactly 1 year, 2 months and three days ago I got Sisterlocks®. I had a beautiful wedding, and enjoyed my new found freedom so much that 9 months later I became a Sisterlocks® consultant. There is so much more to my journey but this is a start, as soon as I get this blogging thing down pat there will be more to come...... so come back often and check for more pictures and posts.
